At the South West tip of Turkey, the Bodrum Peninsula offers some of the most spectacular views across the surrounding waters. The terrain is hilly and varied, with vast forested valleys and despite typically high average temperatures, the landscape remains lush and green throughout the year. Flights from the UK and Ireland into Bodrum Milas airport average 4 1/2 hours, direct flights are available from numerous airlines, while regular short flight transfers from Istanbul to Bodrum make travel into Bodrum from all over the world possible.
Yalikavak lies to the north of the Peninsula, less than 30 minutes drive from Bodrum and less than an hour from Bodrum Milas airport. Less than an hour’s transfer from Bodrum Milas airport and a mere ten miles from the Bodrum resort, the petite fishing port of Yalikavak proudly maintains its identity and heritage, while offering visitors a wealth of amenities, facilities and entertainment options.
Local markets, traditional crafts and bazaars exist along side international restaurants, designer shops and a marina brimming with yachts and watersports, offering a broad range of pursuits for all ages and tastes. English is widely spoken by the Turkish community, and the hospitality of the local people is legendary. Our development at Myndos is a mere five minutes from the seafront, close enough to visit whenever you chose, yet far enough to offer a quiet oasis from the hustle and bustle of village life.
Since 2002, Yalikavak’s main seafront has proudly maintained Blue Flag status, and is merely one of a number of clean beaches and quiet coves that make up this coastline.
Often compared to key European resorts of Marbella and the Cote D’Azur, the Bodrum Peninsula is an exciting and vibrant location, yet maintains all the charm and warmth of an essentially Turkish sunshine destination. Unlike many of Turkey’s coastal charter routes, the Yalikavak waterfront remains unspoilt and true to its national heritage; perhaps this is why it continues to be one of the most popular holiday destination for Turks themselves who in summer flock to its sandy beaches and fun-filled streets.
The authorities of the Bodrum region are unique in their consideration of these natural surroundings, and it is the only costal location where strict building regulations have been implemented to ensure all property developments blend perfectly with the existing scenery of pretty white washed low-rise buildings that form the picturesque and traditional Turkish landscape in Yalikavak and out across the rest of the peninsula.
Everywhere you look in Yalikavak, you’ll see the beautiful blue Aegean stretching out as far as the eye can see, dotted with a multitude of lush green islands including the distant holiday isles of Mykonos, Kos and Kalimnos. A gentle breeze cools this coastline in summer, when the luxurious port area plays host to an armada of millionaire’s yachts and becomes a haven for both Turkish and international celebrities; no wonder the New York Times hailed the Bodrum Peninsula as “the St Tropez of the Aegean” and Turkey’s playground for the rich and famous.
